Klean Kanteen in my opinion are just about the best water bottles one can have. This picture is of my own 800ml stainless steel bottle with the sports cap, I also have the standard cap. I thought I would take this bottle only on my walks but it has proven to be an essential item every day as I also take it to work, it fits nicely in my messenger bag and will remain upright once I have stuffed my light cardigan in it as well, on top of my usual stuff.
I did not want a plastic bottle, something more robust and I was keen on it not being coated so nothing could potentially leak into the water over time. This Klean Kanteen water bottle is made of 18/8 food grade stainless steel and is also free of BPA, phthalates, lead and other toxins. I am very impressed with it as there is no funny after taste with it at all – even from first use.
The great thing is is that it is also made from one piece of steel – there are no seams and whichever top you have for it there is a nice sealing ring that ensures there are no leaks. The standard cap has a lovely strong loop on it making at simple to attach a carabiner clip and the sports cap has an equally good loop set off at an angle so it does not interfere with drinking. Also the sports cap pull out bit is made of soft silicone and is very comfortable to drink from. Filling is easy because once the cap is off there is a lovely wide neck making filling up quick and simple. I believe the stainless steel will stay cooler for longer than plastic would and in any case I just feel better knowing that I am drinking from a non plastic bottle. I fill it with tap water and there are many places that will fill it for you. Certainly in the summer time I drink a lot and the 800ml capacity is close to double that of a standard 500ml so I have saved a lot of empty plastic bottles ending up in the bin.
